Congratulations
Highest 2007 CRES Score
James Remeschatis, CRES
Eastern Maine Medical Center
James Remeschatis achieved
the highest score for 2007 on the International Certifications Commission
Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist examination.
His response to my congratulations:
“Hi Manny,
Thanks for the kind words, I was happy to see all of the hard work that
I put into studying pay off. I had the goal of simply passing the exam
and was glad to see I had some breathing room on my test score. I‘m
not sure how well I would have done without Joe’s (Geary) CRES review
class. I‘d highly recommend it for anyone taking the exam. He did
an excellent job presenting the material in an easy going, fun atmosphere.
The practice tests were invaluable as they highlighted my weak spots.
I went over them each night while studying and even the morning before
the test. When it was time for the test, I felt very relaxed knowing I
was well prepared from all of the daily beatings Joe passed out all week.
I feel that one of the reasons I did well on the test was that I started
preparing early. I started studying daily about 10 weeks before the test.
I used a CRES study guide and the AAMI CBET study CD. My biggest challenge
was recalling my electronics classes from my college days so that is where
I spent most of my time. I’d find time to study on breaks and at
lunch time and also at home at night.
I‘m currently studying for the CBET exam while the material is still
fresh in my mind. I am taking the exam this May along with several co-workers.
Even though about 95% of
my responsibilities are in Medical Imaging but I figure it would be good
to have it under my belt.

Course
Introduction:
Managing multivendor medical equipment maintenance in today’s
environment of regulatory and standards constraints can be a daunting
task. Unscheduled inspections, incident reporting, and other compliance
and accreditation issues can be intimidating unless you are fully prepared
at all times.
This course will introduce, review and provide examples of
compliance for the regulatory and standards organizations for hospital
based medical equipment management programs. We will define the requirements
and detail specific compliance examples for each standard or regulation.
Major attention will be directed to the Joint Commission
requirements for medical equipment management, to prepare attendees to
meet the requirements and prepare for an accreditation site visit.
Course Objectives:
- Identify Regulatory organizations and
their medical equipment management compliance program requirements.
- Identify Standards organizations and
their medical equipment management compliance program requirements.
- Write an effective plan for medical
equipment management.
- Understand and write the required medical
equipment management program policies and procedures for standards and
regulatory compliance.
- Understand and have examples for being
in compliance with the Joint Commission medical equipment management
standards.
- Understand the Joint Commission accreditation
process and the proactive measures that should be in place for an on-site
accreditation visit.
Who Should Attend:
- All levels of personnel in a clinical
engineering department: team leaders, supervisors, managers and directors
of medical management programs.
- Facilities, materials management or
other department managers who are responsible for the medical management
functions.
- Administrators responsible for the
medical equipment management function.
- Biomedical equipment technicians.
- Service and management personnel of
independent service organizations (ISO).
- Service and management personnel of
manufacturers (OEM).
